Atlas Shrugged

I want to post more. I'm strangled by my work obligations. However, I had to let you know...

Atlas Shrugged is being made into a movie. I'm not Jewish but I just might plotz.

Reading this book is going to take time out of your life. It's a fucking brick. It is the most amazing book I've ever read. It's better than Erica Jong's Fear of Flying. It's better than George Orwell's 1984.

READ THIS BOOK.

It's important. It's prophetic. IT.IS.REAL.

I know... I don't post much these days. For that, I apologize. I'm busy. Fifty to sixty hour work weeks combined with school (eek! I'm an old student!) and then add home improvement projects... Ack. I'm overwhelmed.

READ THIS BOOK.

I just hope the movie does it justice.

Be a producer. Please don't be a looter.

READ THE BOOK!

(obnoxious enough? I can do more!)

Okay! OKAY!! But only because you told me to.

Don't hate me but I could not get through this book. I last tried in 1989, however. Maybe it's time for another whirl.

However, I feel a kinship with my mother over this, as she was afraid my father would not marry her after she happened to drop his cherished copy of The Fountainhead into the toilet one day in in 1957.

I guess he forgave her.

Excellent, Jane! Based on what I know of you and your dedication to personal responsibility, I think you'll like it a lot.

Becca, I could never hate you but you must try again to read this book. Your story about your mother dropping The Fountainhead in the toilet made me laugh out loud. It also (because of the way I tend to go off on tangents) made me remember a story about my parents from early in their marriage. I'm going to have to get approval of the story before I post it but expect that I'll get it. That will probably be my next post.

Read it in college, read it again in 2008, then again this year.

That Ms Rand could imagine this in 1957 is what is important an observer of HUMAN NATURE.

And wordi,... Pastorius is right about your profile, you'll fit right in at insane infidel's alliance.

I can't believe I've lived this long and just this year got around to reading it, Epaminondas. Even though I was overwhelmed with required reading for school and work, I couldn't put it down. I got a little bit obnoxious (it's part of my unique charm) with my dad when I insisted he read it. He carried it home with him and put it in a drawer for a few weeks. One day, he decided he'd read the first chapter. He was hooked. He's now telling his friends to read or re-read it.

Rand was an amazing woman. Her ability to take what she witnessed happening in Russia and show how our society could collapse if we stopped producing was stunning in its prophecy.

Thanks, I think ;-), for thinking I'll fit in with the Infidels. I've been reading and lurking for a while.
